I’m happy to invite everyone to attend my lecture and a walk around the exhibition “Disease as a source of art” at the National Museum in Poznań.
Everything we create is borrowed by our bodies. Their condition directly influences both the artists and the viewers who respond to their works. During our meeting we will discuss numerous relations between art history and medicine. What is more, we will take a closer look at the works presented at the exhibition, regarding the link with their creators’ disabilities, as well as some “classics” of Polish painting whose health condition, as we know now, was not perfect.
The first – theoretical – part of the meeting will carry a lecture-like character, while the second will take place at the exposition so that we could practise “diagnosing” the canvas directly on the works of art collected there.
